So my oil pressure light kept on shouting at me at low revs and the vr tapped like that famous tap dancing guy in the mornings..... This is why

Pulled this crap from the oil pick up pipe, the big bits are 50p wide in comparison

Havent a clue lol  Hoping smart people come along! Car now sounds sweet on these cold mornings so least its sorted before major $$

Ideally, yes. It stops oil from swishing round to one side of the sump during cornering and away from the pick up. For road use its not really a must, but for fast road you want to have it. Last thing you want to do is blow the engine halfway through a fast corner.

That is the remains of the baffle plate from the oil pump.

Why would the sump baffle disintegrate though, unless it was incorrectly fitted and fouling on the cranks?
Initially I suspected the water pump veins as they commonly break off but they'd be floating about in the cooling system, not the sump. Either way that engine needs a bloody good clear out.
