New clutch smell
« on: 05 February 2012, 22:41 »
Hi all
This is my first post.
I have bought a gti mk 6 2009 plate.
Within five days the clutch was making a squealing noise in reverse and making a dreadful clutch smell.

The dealer replaced with a brand new clutch.

I live on a steep incline and when I reverse, the noise has gone but there is still a clutch smell though not strong.

The dealer reckons I am riding the clutch but I am only pulling out of the drive once, and still get the smell.

He tells me this is normal

Can any of you experts tell me am I being fobbed off, or is he right? I have 30 days to return car if n good

Any advice appreciated

My old golf never made a clutch smell in reverse

Please help

Thanks

Replace it with a GTI with DSG, problem solved

May be some residual crap from your old clutch?
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

Give it while to remove residual material, but if still occuring close to the 30-day warranty take it back
