just been given a car
« on: 05 February 2012, 11:47 »
ok so was helping my brother move house yesterday. when he said to me by the way do you want my car.

i said wich one and he replied the 2003 MG ZR

he has given me a bright blue mg zr simply coz he cant be arsed to fix it.
only thing wrong with it is drivers door wont open for some reason and thrust bearing has gone to the point you cant can any gear.

it had an engine put in it a few months back that only has 47k on the clock.

what do i do with it? im just thinking how much money i can get out of it.
should i break it for parts on an mg websit or sell it as it is for spares or repair?

Id say fix and sell it if your not working atm mate. Give your bro a few quid and make a bit of money for nothing.

Is it 1.4 or 1.8? Does it have any tax or test?

I think £1500 is expecting a bit much unless its a 160 though mate.

coming up to summer £1500 is acheivable with the mileage, check the boot hinges though! if their not rotten polish them up and point it out to whoever buys it. check the footwells for water, the sunroofs go for a pastime as do the foam gaskets between the rear lights and the body. check the clock in the dashboard isn't scrambled. ooh and check down the spark plug holes, if their full of watery oil its not the head gasket its the red squeezy tube sealant between the head and the cam carrier type sandwich afair! If all is well your onto a right winner!

ide repair it then either sell it and split the money with your bro, or just fix it and keep as a run around untill you dont want it anymore/its shagged then scrap it in

£1500 for a second engined car??? From MG

Seems high to me too. But still worth the time to fix and collect some dish from. Just don't be expecting as high amount
