Hi and help with oil
« on: 04 February 2012, 21:28 »
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and bought a 52plate AUQ engined 1.8t a few weeks ago from the classifieds section and have had a smile in my face since however today the oil light has come on and it's now low.

What oil does everyone reccomened I top it up with? Ideally something I can get from a no garage untill I can order some online and give the car a full service as its due one. The cars also been remapped by r-tech to 210bhp. As its got the AUQ anni engine it's also got the 6speed box to match. Just incase this makes a differnce to the oil I need to use.

Also should I worry that the oils become low? Does it mean I have a leak or the piston rings are worn? Can't say at the minute how much it's losing as only had it 3 weeks and no sure how low it was when I bought it (I no I should of checked when buying). Haven't noticed any oil stains on the drive though.

Thanks for the help in advanced and hope to become a regular and I'll get some pics up soon.

Cheers
Miles

I have an AUQ and use: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1354

Best bet is to top it up and keep an eye on it, might just be low.

Well just had to out and the oil lights gone of but checked with dip stick and it's low so must be borderline, but cos I'm a bit of a worrier I grab a litre of castrol edge 5w-30 fully synthetic, is this good stuff? Hope so as it was £20 for a litre but seems to of topped my oil lvls right up.

Cheers
