to raise my car by 1" do i ajust the coilovers up by 1"??

Pretty much mate.
I wanted my front down 15mm dropped the coil 15mm and got it where I wanted.

the cogs are stiff as
tryed dw40 tonnes of it
just rely stiff
think they must be a few year old
any advice on freeing them up

More wd40 wire brush the threads. Make sure your turning them the right way. Do the bottom first. I use a big hammer too.

If you manage to get them to move coat the threads in copperslip afterwards.

Chock of wood and a hammer does the trick, works well on the fuel pump retaining ring too
