MOT Passed at VOSA
« on: 03 February 2012, 22:22 »
After running the LT for a couple of months I decided it was just too slow on Motorway (This was after I struggled to get above 40 on the slip road)

So the other day I sold it & went and bought its replacement,

Spent all day yesterday cleaning the truck up,

It had a machine polish to get rid of the traces of the old stickers,

The cide crash bars sanded & re painted,

Wheels sanded & painted,

Windows cleaned properly inside & out,

New wipers & brighter head light bulbs,

Sanded & painted one of the white side bits on the body,

Tyres slicked,

Left to do are : Paint other side bit on body,

Sand & paint the flat bed on body (not sure on colour yet)

Order & fit Blue / White chequered refective stickers for sides,

Fit CD player & Bluetooth hands free kit,

                        Fit better beacons on roof,

Order & fit Red LED marker lights on frame on rear behind cab

Had it in for MOT Today, Had to go to VOSA Testing centre & not normal MOT station,

It failed at 9:45 this morning on - Washers not working (just frozen up), Fog light not working (New Bulb needed fitting), Passenger side head light aim (adjusted whilst there) & finally drivers head light had no beam pattern (I fitted a cheap pound shop bulb as the old one had blown)

So returned at 3pm today & it now has a years MOT on it

Put it this way.....without a 7.5tonne license and a truck, any transit type recovery truck will be overweight (max of 3.5tonne on standard license and vehicle weight)  We have a transit and thats 2200kg!  Cant carry much thats less than 1300kg....

Chris, does that come under 7tonne wagon class?  Wagon MOTs are VERY vigilant

The LT Weighed 2200kg so was pretty much over weight with anything on it,

This is a 6.5 tonne class & was done at the testing station where all trucks & busses are MOT'd
