4WD adds traction, not grip.
If the chassis is good enough, and inherently provided enough traction, 4WD is not required.

Until it rains.  Even a little bit.

...and that's the trade off.
4WD normally more usable, more of the time.
No arguments there.

for all rain makes 4wd give better traction coming out of corners, it can also add to understeer going in...it's all a balance.

I agree on the whats best for track use and awd will be heavier and have a tend to understeer ,but in the real world on the public roads awd has far better road manors and try to put 400+ through fwd or rwd it will be interesting to say the least ...
