US Spec Bumper DIY

how hard do you think it would be to do a DIY.

was thinking of buying a cheep bumper from a scrap yard and a extra rub strip, cutting the rubstrip and sticking it across the middle recess then getting some of the side markers off ebay and puthing them in, then doing a bit of plastic welding to weld up the seams.

what you think?

really want a us spec bumper, however can never find any on ebayuk and can on ebayus but the postage would kill me, and guessing that vw would charge a bomb for both the us spec bumper and the us spec bumper strips (if anyone has ETKA can you do a search for me and it would be much appreciated due to the fact my ETKA has died). and dont want to buy the us spec bumper strips and try cutting them up and bodgeing them into the uk bumper incase it goes wrong.

anyway thoughts?

been done loads of times on uk-mkivs mate have a browse through there tbh it dont look that hard to do if your a bit handy with stuff  :cool:

really? you got any links? ive been looking for DIY's and searching around all over the internet, must have looked through about 15 threads on ukmkivs

found a thread on ukmkivs were someone did simelar with a uk bumper rub strips, doesent have any how to or anything though, just shows the rub strips cut off with the side markers in


Fek it, im just going to go for it, a scrappy wownt charge too much for rub strips, next problem, how do i get the rub strips off?

how did you diy yours? like i said, spare rub strips a saw and some plastic welding?

and yeah dont really want to shell out for a us spec rubstrip to have to cut it up, ide rather spend a few quid in a scrap yard and cut that up than spend big bucks to bodge it :D
