I picked B

Not worth it mate.

I saw a gti 8v engine and gearbox sell on eBay for £50, infact it had zero bids.

So for the cost only a engine conversion is worth it.

If you don't want to do that because of insurance. Then why spent £££'s on a engine that will be slower than a gti and then paying more on insurance because of a tuned engine?

Simple answer is save ya money pal for a faster car

Not worth even servicing those engines  As Tweed said, for the cost of some plugs, new oil and filter you can pick up a used gti 8v engine.

:laugh:Filter and stainless exhaust system plus de-cat. but it probs wont make much of a difference. like the rest of them said, wait until you can afford a faster car or put a 2.0 8v in it. until then just cruiz with your music cranked up! you dont need to go fast to have a good time! ..................................fast is good tho!

Which engine is in it? Mines the 100bhp version which is a tall block like the gtis but has a crossflow head like the mk4s. Bottom end swap would help I bet

I've got a 1.6 8v and this is what I'm currently doing to make it faster.

Selling it and buying a gti 2ltr 16v

Reckon it'll be much faster then
