Stage 1.5.
« on: 01 February 2012, 12:53 »
Is there such a thing as a stage 1.5 map, well a further tweaked stage 1 map really. (I probably should just phone R-Tech but bought I'd ask)

Ive got a stage one AUM but want a little more. If I was to fit a decat and TIP then get the my map tweaked again would it be worth it?

I can't afford £550 for a THS fmic, and besides are they really needed as its not exactly hot in England anyway.. Plus the main restriction in the exhaust is the cat obviously.

It should only cost like £300, and may make a reasonable difference? What do you lot think..

Intercooler is nothing to do with how hot the outside air is, it cools the charge air that gets heated by the turbo/engine.

Cooler mix = more timing advance = more power

But it cools the charge air with air which is at outside temp which is what I'm trying to say. I know a fmic has a bigger surface area so would be better but is it necessarily essential?

all depends how cool you want your air

This is mine on a spirited run, note the intake temps. You wouldn't be able to achieve these with a SMIC

Wow they're pretty good. Guess its worth it then. The figures in your sig seem low for your spec, only 15bhp more than mine and 30ft/lb with easily £1000 worth of parts.

I've added the FMIC since the map and don't forget it's an AGU, stage 1 on them only guarantees you around 190bhp, not over 200bhp like the AUM/AUQ

Once I fit my Calibra injectors, VR6 MAF and a have a new map it should change things a bit :afro:

You had a KO3s that's why I thought it might be higher. May save and go all out stage 2 then, those inlet temps have convinced me lol.

yeah limiting factor on the AGU is the K03 but once the K03s is on there the injectors become the weak link. I did have a run of 229bhp but the injectors were working their asses off at 100% duty so it was knocked back a bit for safety.
