Whats the law on posting airbags?
« on: 01 February 2012, 12:39 »
Ive done a bit of a search and no joy but im just about to pick up my new seats for the mk3 after a long time deliberating  what to get.
Finally got a pair but they will come with airbags in the side.Working perfectly but i just wondered where i stand sticking them on ebay and posting them out?

I know you need 12v to set them off but just wanted to know if it was dangerous to post them.

Cheers

ive heard of people posting seats with airbags in them before, and cant imagine them going off with out a supply so cant really see any danger.

could always just say they have to pick up /arange a courier and leave it up to them to sort out?

I thought they were activated electronically but I could be wrong. Wouldnt have thought it would be a issue?

seat ones should be fine mate, as seats are sent around a lot. i just wouldnt stick an individual airbag like the steering wheel in the post

All i know is after accidents and iv fitted airbags to seats at work is that the boxes they come in have that explosive warning label on them

I can just imagine the womans face at the postoffice when i bring her a parcel with

stuck on the side

I am quite tempted to keep them and have a play in the garden with them. But that would be childish and irresponsible......so i might do it anyway

Cheers for the help
