Borough high street and market are good for eating out, Covent Garden is also good for eating, shopping and partying.
Camden is also a good place to spend money and time
what do you want like to see and do? as we have parks and palaces in places like Richmond, Ham and Kew, Museums in Kensington as well as the clubs and other trivia.

I suggest you stay outside London, transport links are good so need to pay through the nose for an Inner city hotel.
East Croydon has a train every hour to and from Victoria, the town itself is less than desirable but some nice hotels close by.

What's your budget for accommodation, food, etc... A great way to explore, is to do one of the Bus sightseeing tours, worth every penny, and you can get off at different points of interest..
SoHo, Chinatown, Leicester square are great areas at night for food and bars etc,
Many hotels reduce the rate at weekends, be sure to check those prices, and not weekday rates!

You can stay at mine, 8 minutes to east croydon, im at work in 40 minutes (oxford street)

Just go to westfields, you can spend an entire day in there - food, shopping, cinema etc. Job done. London bridge, the market (oldest in london) is great for awesome food, though not sure when its on (sat/sun) also bits to do and see, the tate modern is a 10 minute walk, or you can get the boat down the river!

Croydon, its awesome, we have a Reflex.

That is all.

I could be here all day naming awesome places to go and see in London . . .

East Croydon has a train every hour to and from Victoria, the town itself is less than desirable but some nice hotels close by.

Trains to London Bridge and Victoria leave pretty much every 10 minutes from East Croydon. I wouldnt suggest anyone stay here though, get a travelodge or somewhere up town. If your going to have a nice weekend with the Mrs, dont for the love of god bring her to stay in Croydon.

Soho an Shorditch for tattoos, Hotels, i love the Royal Horse Guards (Embankment) an The Cumberland (marble Arch/Hyde Park)

Shopping wise, dont waste a visit to london in westfield, its just a huge mall. Do oxford street, Soho, Carnaby Street, Spitalfields is good fun and maybe even Brick Lane if youre into that. Borough Markets awesome, just go on an empty stomach!

Oxford street is awful for shopping, they sell out of your size and its full of tourists, soho is expensive, carnaby street as well. Plus they are also full of tourists....well seems a good idea to do that then actually, thats what the tourists do.

Just please dont stop suddenly while walking, or stand on the left of the escalator while going to the tube, its annoying!

Best place to go in London is the A40/M40 northbound out of the place
