Hi, this is my first post and my second car! (Volkswagen Golf 1.4 3 door Match 03).

When I purchased the car, I realised that the remote fob on the key didn't work. My brother changed the battery over as the original battery may have been dead. I only have the one key (2 button remote) and have tried all the syncing methods related to one key. Still no luck!
I can open the door fine using the key itself and when turned twice, the boot and passenger door also unlock. I have read many posts saying that there is a 20 second delay before the alarm goes off once the driver door has opened (need to be dearmed using the ignition) and if passenger or boot is opened first, the alarm will set off straight away.

So anyway, went to the stealers today and went to look for some MK4 mats.. £43!!
Whilst there, I asked them if they can help me sync the remote back and they mentioned a charge of £48+VAT to re-program the fob (immobiliser works fine anyway)! They wouldn't even guarantee it would work and may need a new key!

Anybody with any idea how to fix this, or anybody with Vagcom near the area of Wrexham? Would be most appreciated!

Kind regards,
Brandon.

is this the only key or does the other one work ok?

Edit: just read this is the only key!

Do you have the original stereo or have you got an after market one installed?

Yes, I only have the one key and everything is OEM standard including the stereo itself. (6 CD changer).
I have tried all the methods of trying to sync the keyfob back that I have found. This ranging from, clicking unlock then physically turn the key to unlock. Turn on ignition, take back out and press buttons and put back in. Turn key three times to the right to unlock and try to get it into program mode .
These were mostly the ones I found and not sure if they were based on just the one occasion (maybe lucky) when they tried to sync their keys back?

if you only have one key you can't do it without a computer. if you're passing tamworth any time soon pop in and i'll sort it for you. It is quite possible the key is broken, but again need vagcom to confirm.

So would it be near impossible to sort out with just one key?
Had an idea of a solution. If I was to purchase a blank key and get it cut but not re-programmed for syncing or immobiliser. Would it be possible to insert this new key in ignition and sync my current fob that way? (Vice Versa to sync new keys)
Obviously I would need to get the new keys programmed for immob, but in the mean time, I just need to try and get this current one working.
If I still struggle, I may pop down Tamworth for the day! I don't have other reason to drop down, just for the keys really!

nah you need to have at least one working key to be able to sync another one. There must be someone a little closer to you on the forum with vagcom.

there may be a way to do it by jumping pins on the CCM but i'm still playing with that idea.

So I'll guess it would definitely need to be hooked up to a computer? :undecided:
Someone mentioned to me about fuse 14? But my interior light still works, aswell as the courtesy light when the doors open. But apparently it controls the remote keyfob, so will give that a look tomorrow morning!
He also mentioned that my CCM module may have gone? What's the general use of the CCM?

Ok, so update.. I checked my fuses after work (both 6 +14). There was no fuse in the '6' slot and 14 has not blown! I took the number plate light fuse and put it into number 6 fuse, but yet still didn't make a difference? I hate opening the car and race to put key in ignition before setting off the alarm.
