The boot is open so they can hear the exhaust ...... And mate not being funny just because they admire there cars doesnt make them dicks!!!!  As barry said though a 4mo will give of the same note if you do some exhaust mods   R32 V6 utter win noise!!! 1.8t can kiss my hoop!!

On your old 4mo was it a r32 miltek exhaust u had on it?  Was considering keeping the anni kit and doing a twin cut with r32 exhaust and shortening the tailpipes so they are not poking out would sound awesome with a decat

sure was an i miss that noise so much even the wife says her new cars boring 
an go for the r32 milltek if u have a 4mo there isnt much diffrence from real r32 noise
