Power steering parts Help, will it fit
« on: 28 January 2012, 00:31 »
gathering the remainder of parts needed for my 20vt swap into my LHD mk2.
What im still missing is the pipe-work for the power steering.

So a mate of mine has offered to get one from a scrappy when he is in germany.

will any power steering pipe from a mk2 or mk3 model fit. and if he was to bring back an item from a mk3 vr6 for example would that fit my 1.8t ?

I have a mk3 rack that im going to fit mk2 tie rods too and i will be mounting a pump from my old G60 8v.

Thanks in advance guys

Yeah it should be okay one is shorter than the other but righty or lefty they are usually the same diameter pipe!
VAG wanted 100 before they discountinued the parts so many of us go direct to hydraulics companies and just get them to make them up for 40 odd quid! or find a power steering specialist who might have the right length and diameter pipe you need?

Im going to try using uk right hand drive pipes but I imagine them to be a bit longer.

Well funny you say that the PAS pump is mounted in the same place on lefty's and righties?
My rallye's configeration was nearly enough the same except for alternator/charger brackets and pump shaft slightly shorter?

your rallye is LHD I imagine?

Where the power steering pipes attach to the rack are they same as on a RHD sttering rack? It would be great if i could use RHD PAS pipes.

Near enough mate the reason why I said it doesnt matter is because the PAS pipes route the same route around the bay so in theory you might loose an inch or so, but you can always fet it up with better routing method.
I would ring VAG or get pictures of the pipe for left and right off Ekta I still think you can use either as the pump is in the same place reagrdless of lefty or righty!
