Am I right in thinking that they do this so as to get more people to view their ad i.e. if some one types GTI into their search this will come up as a result of it ?

Just had a look at the ad this is one thing that really p!sses me off " First to see will buy" bit of a bl33din arrogant claim to make , me thinks  .          
 I would be tempted to go and have look just to prove him wrong !!

Yes thats correct - its all about increasing the number of people that view your listing.  I suppose if someone only has a rough idea of the car they are looking for it may provide them with an alternative.
