Sump scraping woes.....

I keep smashing my sump on speedbumps as the car is silly low, is there a lower profile sump available to fit my 8 valve block?? Suspension isnt adjustable so raising it up a bit isnt an option.

Fit proper suspension then.

If it's that low, it'll handle like a pig anyway.

Not sure about sumps though, you any good with a welder?

made a few shallow sumps in the past, they are a twerp to do.    makeing the sump shallower is easy   but you have to shoretn the pickup,   problem is do that and there is bugger all oil in it, so you have to put wings on it  then getting at the bolts is fun

Dry sump would be an expensive solution.

Helpful. Dont bother replying if you have nothing constructive to add. Handles fine thanks. Believe it or not cars used to go round corners before coilover suspension became fashionable.

I snake as much as I can, and I've had plenty of aircooled stuff thats low, so I'm well used to dodging potholes

I did think about modding one with a flat bottom welded on, but was concerned about losing oil capacity as mentioned above.

No, really it will.  It IS helpful advice.  He's suggesting you remove what is causing your problem.

You car WILL handle better.

Unless you're some sort of a numpty who thinks it's cool because it's so low.  You cannot assert your car handles as good as it would if it wasn't as low as it must be to be colliding with speed humps.  It simply cannot technically.

If you want to do it right you buy air ride that has a sensor when approaching bumps it automatically raises itself esp when it senses you have just eaten at a McD's and the weight is just too much!
