mk2 widetrack.....

hi guys, i'm running my mk2 gti on a mk3  widetrack setup, using '95 mk3 gti 16v brakes, subframe etc.
its on 5 stud, but i'd like to switch back to 4 stud, is it possible to get back to 4 stud while keeping the wide track??
the rear isnt gonna be a problem, but the front is making my brain hurt!

U can. Get the hubs and such. Not sure if the ball joints are differant though

yeah, i thought the balljoints were different, and the cvs too. probably should have been more specific, but what im wanting to do is just change the discs and drive flanges if possible, just not sure if theres anything that fits the bill, i heard some of the early passats used a 4 stud version of the mk3 setup? could be wrong.

Not sure on Passat but Vento and Cabrio 2.0 mk3's were 4 stud.

Were the cabrios 288 discs? The only one I can think of is the g60 setup on the front. Could keep your caliper then I should think. But u'd need the hubs of a corrado (think there 4 stud)

lot of differece in 4 stud from 5 firstly the wishbones are different ,driveshalfts subframe anti-rolebar etc... :wink: :smiley:

Correct, but if you look at the components there are the bits out there that were in use on other vehicles to make it work.

B3 Passat GT 16V had 280mm front discs and 4-stud and wide-track for sure.

Get out your ETKA and figure out the uprights, caliper carriers, balljoints to make it work.

ive spoke to a fair amount with 4 or 5 stud and a couple said 5 stud handles like a dream! / the wishbones and ball joints sit and nicer angles so ive heard ?


i run 4 stud personally and think it handles spot on !?
