Hello everyone!

Right after finally sorting out my new Golf GT Sport 140 TDI (which is amazing and I love very much especially the full leather ) I will soon be ready for some mods. However being a complete noob to modding and quite useless with a spanner I would greatly appreciate it if I could have some advice. I'm currently sitting at Stock and would like the following:

Performance

- Remap, now i've looked around and it seems that Revo Stage 1 would be the best one for me to go for.

- Exhaust, as all 140's my car has the hidden downwards facing exhaust underneath the car and I was wanting to change this to a Milltek Sport's Edition 30 cat-back exhaust, i'm aware I may need to make some body panel adjustments to fit this.

- New brakes to help with the new power, possibly R32 brakes or something like AP Racing? I would also like the calipers finished in red, blue, black or yellow (not decided which is best to go with black wheels)

Cosmetic

- Currently have stock 17" alloys which look fantastic, but think I would like to either get these resprayed to black or purchase some black Scirocco Wheels for the car. Since my car is Silver with a Black front grill I think it would look amazing, especially with some caliper paint also.

- Illuminated door sill trims, they just look cool. VW do these themselves but charge quite an insane £236.

- Xenon headlamps, not sure how to do get this done but with the audi style angel eyes would be even neater.

Entertainment

- I would like to upgrade my cd player to an RNS 510, these look quite simple to fit by myself? Do I need to do anything extra to get the Sat Nav to work?

- Cruise Control, I do a lot of motorway travelling so this is an awesome feature but i'll probably book it in to be done at VW as there price seems reasonable.

- Aux in, sadly the Golf doesn't have an aux in as standard, but I believe the RNS 510 brings this feature to the car and so there is no need for a seperate handsfree kit or the like.

I think that is it for now and I realise the list is long and i'm obviouslly not going to get it all done right away. Since i'm new and useless and unable to do half of this stuff myself I was wondering if you guys could recommend a garage for me to get the work done including fitting and maybe add anything ive missed off? I'm completely open to suggestions to gain the most power without destroying my MPG too much or making the car irritating and tiresome to drive on the motorway. I welcome any of you enthusiasts that know your stuff to argue that something is a waste of time and money and suggest things that would better improve the performance instead.

Thanks for your help!

N terms of the exhaust I'd have a word as I'm sure that they do custom sets for the oil burners. Go to Milltek direct for advice tho.

Awesome were doing deals on the cruise control with APR remaps and also add map on off functionality if that is something you were interested in...a while back but worth asking bout.

New brakes?? Why?? I'm 195bhp and seems fine unless really pushing hard....I'd wait till pads/discs need replacing and get used to the car first. Just my twopeneth

Have to agree. Surely it would be worth to look at better pads rather than going for R32 brakes which may be overkill. Fair does if you are planning on going further with mods but if you're looking at around 200hp then I think the standard setup with better pads would be ideal.

I'll also add that I think I'd go for the concealed exhausts if possible. I know the Mk5 can have a bit of a bum but I reckon it would make a cool Q car.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll steer clear of the new brakes then and use the money on something more useful! Yeah the concealed exhaust is actually growing on me for some reason. Think i'll try the remap and take it from there, the cruise control bundle would have been perfect. Payday tomorrow so I can get the ball rolling
