Polo MK1 (Typ 86, 1975–1979) 5.1 Polo Mark I facelift (1979–1981)
Polo Mark II (Typ 86C, 1981–1990) 6.1 Polo Mark II Facelift (1990–1994)
Polo Mark III (Typ 6N, 1994–1999) 7.1 Polo Mark III Facelift (Typ 6N2, 2000–2002)
Polo Playa (1996–2002)
Polo Mark IV (Typ 9N, 2002–2005)
Polo Mark V (Typ 6R, 2009–present)

the above makes NO sense.

Facelift models do not count as actual MKs
All pictures are roughly age appropriate, some of the early models may not actually be correct. If I couldn't find the name I just searched for one of the inclusive years.

Polo MK1 (Typ 86, 1975–1979)

5.1 Polo Mark I facelift (1979–1981)

Polo Mark II (Typ 86C, 1981–1990)

6.1 Polo Mark II Facelift (1990–1994)

Polo Mark III (Typ 6N, 1994–1999)

7.1 Polo Mark III Facelift (Typ 6N2, 2000–2002)

Polo Mark IV (Typ 9N, 2002–2005)

Polo Mark V (Typ 6R, 2009–present)

Best I can work out their counting facelifts as another mk, so it's a mk5 if you don't count facelifts separately and a mk8 if you do. I'd call it a mk5 myself.

Current cars 1995 Golf gti colour concept 2.0 8v 156,000 miles. bmw 316 1.9 129,000. yeah, life's good!

Mk8 if you count the facelifts. I find it easiest to call it a 6R since there's no confusion over facelifts.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3
