newbie "where does this go" questions

Few quick questions. I removed my airbox to clean up underneath and give a bit of tlc and found 2 air tubes not connected to anything. I have either pulled these out when removing the airbox of they were never attached. The car funs alright without them attached but i am wondering if this is causing my driving problems from cold for the 1st couple of minutes.

This one is connected to the aitbox (the little device that moves the flap across when temperature rises) Not connected to anything else.


This one shown in the 2 pictures is not connected to anytihng, but sucks in air (if that helps). The second picture shows where it connects to.



Final question, hwat does thick bracket do i am pointing to? The bolt was almost out and i screwed it back in but not sure what the point of it is. Can i remove it if its useless? (dont worry about the oil, its from the filler cap, nothing to worry about)

i think you have to join the pipe from the air box to the vacum side or to that black pipe . looks like someone has been at it before and put the pipes on in the wrong places. so i would join the pipe from the air box to the black pipe that is sooking in air. the braket is for hooking a chain to when removeing the engine with a hoist. dont let the bolt go loose as it also holds the braket for the altenator to keep tension on the belt.

Wil give it a try, cant hurt i suppose. I will tighten that bolt up good then. It was 4 threads out so probably just as well i caught it when i did. Cheers

I conected it up like you suggested and the cold running problems i had have dissapeared today! Fingers crossed its fixed but a few more days should tell me. Cheers for the help.
