£2000 - £2500 what will that get me??

ive put a 16v in one off my mk1 and low down grunt was slower than the 8v the conversion cost £500 all in but since ive speeded things up with twin 40s dellorto carbs and set of cams and ive now bought a head of 20 16v golf which im in the process of having it gas flowed but the whole hasnt cost me 2500 including the car (which has never been welded) but i done all the work myself in fitting the engine and carbs. taking it up to santapod to see what she will do soon

In that case then your 16v engine had a problem because it will not have less grunt than an 8v as standard, end of story.

I just want to get to quarter of a million miles on my original engine first before I drop it out. Only 15,000 miles to go...

bronze, are you going to the Malvern event in July? It's near your neck of the woods?

Cheers mate, but it's not that stunning close up. I use it as a daily driver, so there are a few marks on it  :embarassed: The hood is now two years old and doesn't look as good as it use too  I'm hoping to get my interior valated before BVF as I can never get it to come clean.

It is a VW colour, I've seen a few about, but only one other with the clipper kit and that was in Cyprus. I followed him around for a bit in my Vitara hirer car

Mines a daily driver too and I've got more than a few marks!

The front valance has taken a hammering from stones, the roof needs replacing (it's the original still and has a few tiny splits in the usual places), the drivers door is up for replacing as it's starting to bubble on the leading edge, I've now got rust coming through on the corners of the bootlid (quite common apparently) and the fuel filler area needs sorting - again. It's all booked in to be done, just not in time for Malvern.

I've just put some alloys on it and lowered it so I might add some new pics to my gallery - theres some pics of it up there already fresh from the last load of rust killing and spraying.

It sounds worse than it is but I still wouldn't have anything else. Well, Corrado G60 and split screen campers excepted. 

Sort us out with your number and we'll meet. I've haven't been to a VW event since Bug Jam in 98 - looking froward to it. I haven't made any plans to camp over as I might already have a bed for the night; an ex-girlfriend lives nearby so I might try and combine business with pleasure
