Possibly selling 18" monzas
« on: 22 January 2012, 21:59 »
As post suggests thinking about selling an immaculate set of 18"s with the grey insert, but not sure of what i should be looking for them.

Any suggestions??

Thats what I'd expect to pay for reps not oem.

Not a great time of year to sell anything as most people are skint until March either that or hibernating

They do sell quite well in singles on flea bay.

It depends on whether they have good tyres on or not, how old they are and whether they have been refurbished ?

If they had black inserts instead of grey I'd have been interested in buying one. Had a puncture yesterday and after removing the wheel I accidentally dropped it face down on the road causing pitting and some scratching to some areas of the polished face of the wheel  I'm absolutely gutted as I've had the car nearly 2 years without getting any marks on them. Anyway, just ordered a new wheel from my dealer, £509. That should be a guide as to how much you could expect to get.
Btw, tried asking if they could be repaired [Wheel Wizard etc] they said they wouldn't attempt to try a repair to the diamond cut lacquered face as they couldn't guarantee getting it right.
All you Monza owners beware - don't be careless like I was if you have to remove a wheel; it will get expensive [Unless you can live with marks on your wheels - which I can't]

There's a few places that will do a good repair of diamond cut Monzas - A1 Wheels in Wolverhampton being one  - there's plenty of happy Mk 5 Gti owners had theirs refurbished there.  They can do this too :

Paint the insides black on older Mk 5 Monzas and then cut back and refurb the diamond cut face

Other places that used to refurb them are (taken from another thread ) :-

Hmm, what a beautifully written ebay ad. Not.

Lepsons did my Monza Shadow and did a good job of it for sensible money. They can fix the polished face quite easily by welding a bit of metal into the hole and running the diamond cutter over it to polish it flat like the rest of the wheel face.

I've always heard good things about Lepsons. When mine need a refurb I shall take them there.
