Took the car to VW today and they have confirmed that it needs a new water pump. The part is on back order in Germany with a 3 week wait but they have managed to source one from another dealership. I should get the car back next Friday. At least it is still under warranty.

Got the car back last Saturday. The first pump they managed to source from another dealer was damaged so they had to get hold of another one. Car all seems ok now - just hope this pump lasts longer than the first one (25k).

Glad to here its sorted now, your not the first recently that's had the water pump replaced, truckerash has only had his brand new car for 20 days or so and needed a new one, amongst other things aswel...
