Insurance - Agreed Value

After reading about Davids accident (hope it has all worked out mate), I was concerned and thought sh1t, what would I do, I would be gutted!

So I rang my insurance people (Chris Knott) and asked them about agreed value policy (which you can do). All you do is send pictures when you modify your car and you then come to a agreement with the insurance people - sounds good? The cost for this service is only £28.00 more per year. I have declared every mod and added my new interior to the policy and it comes to £549 (9 years protected no claims)

So people, if anyone one wants to know more, I will be getting all the paperwork in the next few days to renew my quote. I will post the exact policy on here - just in case anyone else is interested.

those are weird like that.

what is the mono lisa? a bit of paper and some paint ain't it? but it's valued at something stupid. Cars should be the same. Glad I've got mine down as £6000. I'll be putting it up once all the bodywork is mint.

Try HIC they only cost an extra £15 for agreed values.  Got my valver agreed for £3500 & the whole policy only costs me £450 a year with 6 points & track day cover

Has anybody actually read the small print for agreed value?

The agreed value policies I read about required full documentation of the everything done to the car, including receipts and pictures which then had to be sent to the insurance company for approval. the increase in premium was more than £15.

Think about it for a moment - you insure the car for an "ageed value" of £6k. You then have the car stolen and burnt out making identification very difficult. You then ask them for a cheque for your £200 banger of £6k.

Now call my cynical - but I wouldn't want to claim on these agreed value policies just yet. Insurance companies aren't stupid.

My cabrio is on an agreed value policy with footman james. Its a totally seperate policy to my day to day runner. Because my car is over 20 years old I only have to send two photo's every year. If it is under 20 years old, they still demand the photo's and also an engineers report, however you only need to do that once, when you first take out the policy........then its just 2 current photo's every year. I've got some paperwork at home that I can scan in if anyone is interested in seeing it
