Merc wheel adaptors for mk2 Golf 4x100 - 5x112
« on: 21 January 2012, 00:16 »
Hi, I've got some Merc wheels that are 5x112 PCD and want to lob them on my Golf, I know this is a hard conversion because of the holes but I've found these adaptors, has anyone used them before?:

Alternatively, and probably not possible, can you fit 5 stud mk3 hubs to a mk2?  Or even mk6 hubs as they are already 5x112?

Fit mk3 hubs just don't go widetrack.

Ive used a set similar to those.

That offset piece was threaded on mine and not bolted like the one above. Still a very good design that.

I had no problems with the adaptors. You must use some medium strength loctite on most adaptor bolts.

My friend might still have a set for sale. Can PM you his number?

:)

The offset is Et11, which is normal for Mercs.

Got some pics here:

I know the tyres have to come off, if the conversion is possible.  They were an impulse buy as been after some of these wheels for years especially in 16", oh yeah they're all 8J.  I'll buy an old Merc to go with them if I can fit em to my Golf!  lol

If it's possible I will more than likely do it, but what needs to be done, and why?  Would it be safer and easier in the long run to change to mk3 5-stud hubs and adapt from there with whatever else needs doing?  How easy/hard is it to change to mk3 hubs too?

Well et11 is a very low offset, if you run a 15mm adaptor then you will have a final offset of -4, changing to mk3 set is not going to gain you anything in the long run, they will have a lot of poke thats for sure.

Right, some massive arch work needed then basically, for starters.  My Rallye has had rolled arches to fit 18" 8J wheels already but nothing close to sticking out that much, don't think it'd do much good to the dif either?  Might have to have a chop at my other mk2 to see what's the end result will look like.  I will get these Zender Turbo's to fit!! lol
