new to vw's cant wait to get it looking nice
« on: 19 January 2012, 02:28 »
hi every one, so as many ive had a fair mix of cars mostly bmw or turbo'd but with the 325 giving back 25mpg it needed to go. as much as ill miss its sound and comfort a smaller engine is needed.

so had a look round ebay.piston heads and auto trader and came across this mk3 golf. looks clean, 6 mths mot n tax till end of feb.
full service history up to 122k, 158k current so could be due oil etc, looks clean but pictures can certainly be deciving. told the interior is clean apart from a small rip on drivers bolster. but planning to put leathers in from which ever car that has the bucket style seats.

im actually really looking forward to getting this tonight (Thursday) and having seen the golf mk3 that performance vw had (hq 5 mins away from me) and there most recent mk2 slammed on real nice alloys ive always wanted to but stuck to what i know, being bmw's

so this is what i bought,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200701601669&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123#ht_500wt_1287

as said pictures can be deceiving but it does look ok. and if its not ill walk away ebay item strike or not.

have a few questions but ill stick them in the right areas.
always going to meets with bmw forums in the south east, lake side etc, so be nice to get to know a different bunch of people!

also great site loads of info, already been reading threads for past few hours!!

cheers, well coilovers are 1st on the list, but pondering over 16" steels and if to band or not. or just get some nice looking alloys that suit the car.

did have a love for bently wheels not so long back, were selling replicas for about 500 offer price! but the weight on em would be silly,
or like these, albiet done in white/black

other then that some nice Compomotive  MO5's i like,

or something along them lines.

If it was up to me, banded steels all the way, I just don't have the time to get them done

yer i wouldn't mind banded steels, least no expensive fat slab face alloy to scuff up on a kurb lol.

im sure its safe but the banded part worries me lol,

well got her home about an hour ago, and it is nice, clean inside and out, fsh as stated and a pas pump included with belt

one thing that did annoy me, couldnt get the rear wiper to stop going as it was on intermittent, tried all the stalks, but managed to rest the clock and every thing else lol. never mind ill look it up in the manual.

oil temp seemed to level off at 92/94 and needle bang in the middle all the way home. lacks the tourqe the bmw had but hey i aint complaining i have a decent car (touch wood) and hopefully something i can put some money in to and get looking nice!
