That 1Gbps is the connection between your PC and  the router, not your internet speed  Just means you can transfer files on the local network quick than before, if you ever do do that.

Haa I know Jay I was shinning my cock that I've never seen 1Gbps
Anyways I wanted to ask if ethernet cables over 5 meters is worth upgrading to CAT6? I've got CAT5 about 5 Meters in length would it affect the 30MB?

Not going to make a difference tbh

is it CAT5e you have?

Got cable 2 meters from the driveway, its been there about 14 years.
Can we get cable, no. Apparently it would give Virgin a monopoly
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

Snap, though ours is just at the end of the cul'de'sac, newly built 3 years ago... so they could have laid the fiber then...

Likewise, I recently moved into a new build estate about a mile or so from the main town centre where I used to get a solid 30gb from Virgin and now I've got a fvcking measly 0.4 gb tthrough BT/ Sky. Hurry up you useless cvnts!

That's very bad, give them a call to get it sorted. Ask for a SNR reset and KBD test on the line (also do a little research on those two so you also know what you're talking about when you speak to them and they know you know what they are  ) it may not be their fault and could be a problem with the router, your cabling or micro filter.
