Indicator Fault... NEED HELP!!!

Hiya

B-Reg Mk2 Gti with indicator problem - when indicating left all works as normal, when indicating right none of the lights flash or light up at all - except the light on the dash which when indicating left works as normal but jus lights up when turning right. (also when hazard buttons pressed the left works as normal and right doesnt).

I suspect this is a wiring / earth problem - as if it was a fuse or relay this would affect both sides? Possibly stalk?

Please any ideas? wiring/earths to check?

you only have one fuse for the indicators...... so it probibly will be a wiring problem.......

if you have a haynes manual..... look the wiring diagram up for the indicators......

and you will then see the whole loom to see if theres any earths!!

we did this on a metro which had a starting problem..... old man looked up the starter wires and found that there was a relay which earthed by the battery.... this had come loose.. a new screw... fixed!!

it will also tell you the colours of the wires... so you can then have half of the dash off and check for cuts etc in these wires!

My 16v has this problem tracked it down to the connection block from the stalks to the loom., cleaned up and pressed together again and the indcators work fine now.

First thing I'd do is swap the hazzard switch, all the indicator wiring goes thru it
