as you may know ive been build a boot setup for my mk4 golf and im coming to closing stages but i cannot seem to get the amps working

i think the problem is the remote on line ive tried 3 wires so far and 2 didnt work at all and one gave a constant power

is this what should happen or is there another wire on the factory wiring that i should use

any helf would be fantasic as it would mean i could finish the setup and post the pics for you all to see

your amps should be wired , main feed (permanent 12v+ through a 'cap' if big power jobbies) through a fused line from your positive terminal on your battery, your 12v- (or earth/negative etc) should be connected to a suitable earthing point some where in your boot, and your remote switching line should run from the 'remote/amp' line from your head unit along a path of your choice (not near rca/signal wores though as can cause interferance) to your amp. then when you switch your head unit on you should get your amps to crank up (provided you havent made a common mistake which is where some peeps connect there amps remote wire to there 'electrical ariel' out put from head unit thinking it does the same thing, on alot of head units now the ariel (when connected) will only come up when the tuner is on, so if you have a cd on (with ta etc turned off) you will sometimes not get any power to your amp.

im sure if you post a thread in the ice section some one in there will prob be able to help more??

the remote lead on your amp is just a switch.  If you think there is a problem with the remote output on your stereo then just use an ignition live, this will mean that the amp will come on when you turn the key on tho(not with the radio) and go off when you remove the key.  Do not wire your remote to permanent live or you will have a flat battery. :embarassed:

The remote cable on the back of your head unit should be blue and marked up remote, if you don't have a remote switch on the stereo, clip into the yellow(ign live) instead.

to test to see where or not it is the remote wire causing the problem just use a piece of wire to bridge the 12+ to the remote terminal if the amp turns on then its the reomte lead or the connection somewhere, if it doesnt come on then its either a sh!t earth or no current from battery.
hope this helps
