Mk3 Golf Gti 2.0 8v brake pipe configuration

After alot of searching the web without success I felt the only way to find this out is to ask. The problem I had is that during the strip down of my Mk3 I noticed that alot of the brake pipes have been changed but my problem is the configuration of the front to rear pipes. Have a look at these pictures.



The two central pipes run to the rear and you would have though it would be left to left and right to right but further down they did this....



And they stay in that configuration upto their relitive joins to the rear flexi hoses. Basically just need to know if this is correct because if its isn't it will be messing with the abs operation. If anyone holds this knowledge or someone could even check their Mk3 for me then that would help me out alot.

My original pipes are held apart with clips all the way along and do not cross over, hope this helps
Suggest you make some new tidy ones up, seeing as you have everything stripped off it would be easy to do a good job

Yeah those pipes got binned ages ago and will be replacing the lot along with new clips just making sure of the correct way round they go. Not sure why they would be fitted this way, can't think of any logical reason they would be swapped round. Thanks for your help though!!

Me neither, had a good look with the torch/feel and they defo don't cross over.
I used Stainless on my last car, was a b!tch to bend but looked the nuts
I suppose copper or brass would do and be easier to bend over stainless or mild steel, bending tool is a must, a blow torch will help as well

You would need to lacquer them to stay shiny, but would look cool , a little soft so maybe vulnerable to stuff flicking up off the road maybe

Best thing with copper pipes is a coat of waxoil

I need a final conformation on the configuration of these front to rear pipes as will be making and fitting them tomorow. Just need to know that its definately left to left and right to right. The two centre outlets on the abs pump. Thought the only reason they would cross over is to split the system diagonally incase there is a failure but this seasms unlikely. Also the only reason I can think for someone crossing them is that they made the previous pipes wrong as on the pump one outlet takes an M10 and the other an M12.
