400m swim apparently. For those who are non/weak swimmers its pretty much impossible without drowning, and for those who are swimmers it's not too bad but 400m in the freezing cold water is a hell of a challenge.

titanic was in the middle of a very cold north sea, hundreds of miles from any shore, minue degree temperatures...

this was 400m from a shore in the Mediterranean

one thing about this though, is blame culture, somebody is always to blame for something nowadays, nothing is ever an accident, its not like the captain done this delibrately

Still very sad for the people that did loose their lives.
