« on: 14 January 2012, 11:37 »
Hi all,

First off i know its not a mk4 but i have a mk4 so i hope this is ok  so here goes,

Just fitted new wheels to my wifes 1 series and posted a pic up on babybmw.net and all i got were replys saying they were illegal and would fail an mot so i thought i would post up and ask on here as I prefer this site to the "oh my god you didnt fit oem wheels on your bmw! your cars shi*e" brigade over there, lol.

heres the pics

so is it illegal???

I'd say just about.. i run 15mm spacers on my rear Mk4 and they sit flush with my rear arches which is boarder line

Look illegal to me, they protrude from the wheel arch buy a few mm.

I'd say they were probably technically illegal. However they're such a small amount out, it'd take a real anal **** to make a fuss about them.

Umm completely legal isn't it?

Aslong as the tread of the tyre is under arch, regardless of how ever far you can poke the rim out, it is still legal?

Pretty damn sure thats right?

Don't MOT it at ATS then!

Advisories I got recently include:

Child seat fitted to the rear
Car is lowered

Does the wheel or the tyre tread protrude?
If its the top of the tyre its illegal

Also moving this to off topic
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...
