Best way to send money
« on: 09 January 2012, 16:38 »
I might need to send around £700 for an item. Apart from paypal, (I want to avoid), what other payment method offers buyer protection and doesn't charge commission (on the sellers side, rather put £4 or £5 extra on my side). Post office? Bank transfer?

here or abroad?

if here,id send it by royal mail special delivery, pay the extra insurance and your covered both with a signature so you know they got it,and cover in the highly unlikely event it 'disapears' en-route.for that sort of £'s,its worth the extra cost to cover yerself imho

Yes it's within UK. It's a kart engine with exhaust and a few other bits and bobs, not sure royal mail will cover such large items. I was thinking paisly freight, or similar.

Back in the UK now. Engine is in Leicester and I'm in Bournemouth, 160 miles more or less. I think I might just go pick it up  :undecided:

Bmouth to Leicester I say is a worth while trip rather than sending £700 squids. Also you could check out the item, if it isn't up to what you expect then you can walk away...

Yeah that's the advantage of picking stuff up yourself. Gonna do it, pick it up myself. Just waiting to hear from the guy now as there's a guy supposed to be picking it up tomorrow, but he hasn't heard from him...
