hi im new on this site can any1 HELP???????? my box is knackered in my gti 8v (mk 2) does any1 know if a mk 3 1.6 box will b ok as a replacement & wots the difference in the gearing?

aint got a clue mate i think someone had a link to a scirroco site that had all that kind of information though........

I think the mk3 boxes are all 02A so you'd need to convert to cable shift, but it will bolt straight on

Only the MK3 GTIs were hydro clutch boxes, the lower spec models all had rod change.  While you're looking at MK3s, nab the weighted shift rod (found on all low spec MK3s) and the variable intermittant wiper relay (#99)

i have now got a nearly new gearbox. came out of a scirroco gt2 (with a gti engine) also got the engine 4 £100 with the gearbox it sometimes pays 2 work in a scrapyard!!!!
