Transit connect battery problem
« on: 08 January 2012, 17:13 »
I disconnected the battery on my transit connect today to reset the ecu after changing the abs sensor, when I reconnected it the van started making a clicking noise from the ecu and now won't start.
Does anybody no what to do or how to get it to start, need it for work tomorrow and cant think what could have gone wrong with it?

I know there is a design fault with the earths on those transits its a common problem on them. Check with your ford dealer and ask them if there is a fix kit for the bad earths on it. Apprently the bodies on the newer transits had been sprayed all over earthing points which means fail.

As said bad earth could well be your problem.

My old work had a brand new one after starting when you brake ALL the lights illuminated on the dash! Been back to ford 4 times and they cant fix it

Cheers for the help lads, took the battery out to charge it, put it back in and it started first time. God only knows why it wouldn't work earlier!
Will have to speak to them about the earth fault though, sounds like it could cause a few unwanted problems!

TBH the only work around is to find every earth connected to the body sand paper off any paint then get some hardened grease and washers to stop corossion on any bare parts or spray some zinc over the newly bolted earths.
I only found this out from a mate who I went with to a Ford dealership, and mechanic spilled the beans as to why his dash was intermittenly lighting up at random times.
