Welcome to the form and great choice of car   ... and I'm sure your dad would be happy for you.

I think I'd remove the sills myself ... it would annoy me too much  :

Once all cleaned up I can recommend this stuff for white paintwork :

Thanks for recommendation pal. I'll certainly look into that.  The VW dealer can take sills off. If you look at the pic of car with "new" wheels on (page1), you can just see the sills sticking out. The more I look at pic, the more it spoils the whole dam car!
VW do a transparent version, so maybe i'll have them.

Keep you all posted, with more pics soon...... like a school kid in a sweetie shop; CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY MOTOR...

A better view of the sill trim. It must be the profile/contours of car body which makes the trim "stick out". According to the brouchure and my VW dealer, the trims are aligned perfectly with the sill edge.

Lovely looking car mate!

Shame about the sills.

If you are after black wing mirrors, this is the road i went down. Saves the cash too

You would think that the engineer when fitting the trim would step back and think that does not look right and then ask for your opinion,Probably a bit much to ask from a dealer once they have sold you the car , Lovely looking car by the way.
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Kenny:
Thanks for that pal. Dealer painting and fitting new mirror casings for £50 the pair. And I get to keep the original white ones.
If you get your roof done, please post us a pic. Mine has sunroof, so a wrap would compliment that as well.

simonpolly:
The engineer was obviously told to just "fit" the trims, not "fit them, then step back and have a look"

I refer to them as fitters not engineers or technician as that insults real engineers.
Sadly dealerships its all time time time and no pride.
