Ignition coil, broken piston, water pump noise... should I keep it??

Hello! I'm new here! 

My PCP is coming to an end in March and I'm scratching my head if I should keep the car. It only has 22,000 miles but it suddenly started "falling apart". 

In the last week or so, the accelerator squicky noise came back with a vengeance. In the past, it was only on the hwy and in cold weather; but now even in the parking lot at 5 mph! I read it's the water pump clutch and indeed that's what the dealer figured, too; so they are replacing it under warranty.

Not bad, except this past week the car started blinking its engine light when stopped in traffic. We took to the dealer and they replaced an ignition coil. Soon after I left the shop, first stop, engine light again. Hence I took it back and now they figured cylinder 1 has low compression... two days later (I'm driving a Polo on loan), the dealer says it's a broken piston!! WTF?

I'm a bit concerned that a virtually new car, loved at every turn, has a broken cylinder piston. Is this normal on Golfs? Should I be looking to replace it in March?

agreed! once thing start to go wrong you can be pretty sure the dealers will help make things worse by not knowing what they are doing. Unless you want to spend the next few years hoping in and out of a VW fox.... I would pass on car

Aye, I suspect the dealer is not making things any better right now.

Your feedback certainly helped! I'll see if I can get a good deal on an exchange car... what do you figure I can get for it? VW in Manchester offered £11,000 (hence, £2,000 towards new car). VW used car site has dealers selling same spec, mileage, etc. for £15-16K. That seems unfair.

There's no way you want to be running one of those engines out of warranty.

Start phoning around dealers to see what you get offered, don't just search locally, scour the country. It's not so much what they offer you for your car, you want the price to change as they may give you a low offer but discount the new/nearly new car which will give you a greater saving/better deal.
Haggle like hell.

The 2.0 TDI is the best all rounder, the 2.0 TSI the nicest to drive. Stay away from the twincharged units.

The best way to find out what its actually worth, is it to put it up for sale. Doesnt mean you have to sell it, but will give you a good idea of interest and providing its still got VW warrenty it should sell. I would go for £14k and take it from there

Fantastic suggestion. And from what I've gathered from the other Edition 35 topics, there seem to be some pre-registered ones kicking. Perhaps there's a good deal waiting to be had.
