The best way is cold turkey & will power because you'll only get addicted to the thing you are substituting the ciggie with.  I can go out and have a ciggie and not have cravings now, which pisses my mate off because he'll have cravings for a couple weeks after  I think the after morning taste of ashtray mouth is enough to put me off smoking when not pissed

seriously give up!! ( plastic fags are stupid)
i did last week after a mini stroke. tho i didnt know it was that till i saw the doc,who went on to talk to me like i was the biggest waste of his time ever!!
tho i do get it now  :undecided:
i have the potential to cost the already hard pushed NHS thousands and thousands of pounds over the years if i didnt stop(money that would save tiny babies lives, or give some young kid the chance to live a normal life after a heart transplant)
i hate the smell of fag smoke.. and cant abide kissing another smoker
who the fcuk can afford such a disgusting habit anyway? £12 a day for some.. £15.000 over 5 years!( my days you should have seen the mk3 i had visions of when this part was pointed out lol)
and anyway.. you seriously want to watch the look on your familys faces when the doc rolls up and tells you theres nothing else they can do for you??

i started smoking the day my dad died when i was 12.. im 39 now.. ive been lucky.. but honest i have ZERO willpower,so if i can do it anyone can...

1 tip tho. dont swap the fags for sugary snacks cos then you'll turn into a fat git with a huge dentist bill and need a fag to get over the shock

go on u can do it ;)
good luck xxx

hope i dont sound [too] harsh.. but smoking has to be the most selfish pastime ever! x

Well thought I would update. A month ago a found out one of my best mates has cancer from smoking and it is looking to be terminal. The day I found out I stopped smoking. Just stopped dead and also made my wife do it with me. After a couple of weeks I was totaly fine and not even craving anymore. Dwell really good in myself and have even started going to the gym pretty much every day. It took the shock of my close friends terrible news to make me realise how sucking on a rolled up bit of paper with crushed leaves in it isn't worth my life. It scared me more as he is the same age as me and I  only 33.
I have has the odd one here as there if I have had a very hard day and just had one off a mate but that is it and I'm no longer thinking about them or needing them.

I will just add though a week after I stopped I felt like crap. Almost like a very bad cold that seemed to last a hole week. A few of my mate that have given up smoking also told me they got ill after quiting aswell.
Did any of you notice this?

I don't understand how people can have the odd one, if i did that, i would start again.
I would like a smoke, but it has been 11 months, it only takes one to be infected again.
Let's face it, it's not a habit, it's an illness.

Yup, but when I was a smoker I was always ill too - not sick as often now unless the kids pick something up at school

Change the way you think about ciggies, don't think about it as quitting but rather changing your life style. I'm quite happy to have a few at the pub or a party and not crave them, they usually make me feel worse in the morning so that probably helps not going back on to them. I just get a bit of peace and quiet, after the moaning, because the wife gets the hump if I've had a smoke
