Took my 06 GTI standard to the dealer mainly for a DSG oil change, but also got them to check out my exhaust light, has been comming on and off for a while now, but has been preminently on for the last week or so.
So they charge me £250 to replace the re-circulation valve, which seems to have given the car a little more tourque, so all good. However, after a couple of days, the light came back on, so i took it back yesterday, this time they said it was the evaporation canister, replaced & £200 lighter. Started up the car this morning and it's back.
The service guy did say that it'd logged faults with the lamda sensor also, but that was probably been caused by the canister.
Question is are they taking the mick, or does it just sound like my exhaust system is in a bad way? I'm 450 quid out of pocket, and i know the dealer will charge over the odds, do i go back risk getting charged again, or just write off my losses and take it to a decent local garage?
