a catch tank for the oil......

im gonna make one from a power steering bottle but i need to know

does the breather hose go into it then just vent to the atmosphere via a filter? or do i have to put the catch tank into a closed system and return the air into the inlet manifold?

also is it worth it?

and also what would happen if i took my isv off and connected the 2 pieces of pipe witha piece of tube?

you'd get starting and running / idle probelms if you disconect the isv!!

the top of the pcv on the rocker cover goes into a round plastic bit and then into the throttle!!

just keep them clean but if your driving the car hard all the time it really keeps itself clear!!

i'd leave it as it is... it isnt worth the hassle of making a oil catch can... when it really doenst need one!

vw designed it like this so you dont get problems..

even by doing that... its doubtful that you will get a performance increase! but your more likely to get running problems! at idle!!

my engine did over 211000 miles before ive had to scrap it..... and even then the engine was still going its the gearbox which failled again! alls i did was maintain it..... check the oil.... change it! and all was well...
i'm sad to scrap it...... very sad it gave us such good fun.... i will miss my mk 2!!

ive seen a isv mod online somewhere before cant recall where but i know the only problem the guy had was on cold starts it ran lumpy or took little longer to start up but he used an ecotek filter in the breather and connected the other 2 bits on the outlet to themselfs only advantage was it didnt leak oil into the inlet anymore and was easier to tune and get the revs perfect, not really worth the effort to be honest.

if you wanna see what your car is like without an ISV then just disconnect the electrical connector. the car is a pig to drive in the mornings when cold.

the more i think about this the more im tempted to make one out of a power steering bottle

when i have finished the isv removal experienmt that is cos that is meant to cut down on oil gunk
