they changed around the '90 spec thing to give a bigger clear area on the drivers side. ie instead of looking through an arc of clear windscreen you look through the other side with the sweep ending in the vertical position.

i seen an a reg gti it was k jet 8v and my a reg mk2 was a left hook one but on the right if you know what i mean? all the wipers were wrong.....

My one was like that, was f**king annoying when it rained :angry: but mine was a Dreg

i have an a reg mk2 8 valve at my house, it is my next project, was importted from germany and is solid as a rock apart from it has rusted a big hole in the rear turret for some reason

quite a dodgy bit to go rusty though? apparently that was a common place for them to go on early models.

on my back E reg digi the wipers ar the wrong way around too

anyone know why they changed them on some?

they changed in early 88 mid e plate, along with he removal of front quarter lights windows, the rear panel got changed (the word VOLKSWAGEN got removed, GOLF became Golf) and the wipers got put the correct way round. a whole host of other things got changed at the same time, and the 8v and 16v went in very different directions part wise as well.
