« on: 01 January 2012, 20:58 »
right, i`m after a little bit of advice.... i`m looking at going to apple / mac os. dont really know why but i just think it would be a more reliable computer. every windows computer i have had as been a bit blue screen of deathy / crashy.
i`m not a gamer or anything more of a surfer and like to find and use "smashed" software ..
is there anything good i could find on the second hand market?. not looking to spend alot, i could stick with my vista equipt acer thing but not really happy with it.
would switching to mac be a whole new learning process?.
any advice appreciated!

Mac and cheap does not go together you can get i5 core hp latops with6gb ram for like under 400 quid imense value for money..... dont get me wrong i have a macbook pro but even a good nick second hand 1 will be 600 to700 mate..... I had many laptops on windows previous including my gaming pc which i still own and i have never had blue screen ever in years....shame you have sounds like you just had a bad run of luck

My advice stick to a newer windows laptop more value for your buck mate

Generally if you're getting BSOD's there is a driver or hardware issue, look in c:\windows\minidumps and email me the files, I might be able to tell you what's wrong (PM me for my email address).

OSX is a huge learning curve if you've never used it before, you'll spend some time on Google trying to find out how to do things you already know how to do on Windows.

How old is your desktop? Have you updated the drivers for it since you got it?

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.
