ITG Pro Filter

Hi all, I've read in different places that you need to be careful about oil based panel filter in the GTI.

There is a comment in the product spec that states "the arresting stickiness of the dust retaining oil gives a high level of filtration to protect the engine from all containments brought in by the air"

Can anyone tell me if the ITG panel filter is ok for my GTI please?

Cheers,

Am sure it will be fine, just different because it's a foam filter rather than a cotton one that needs a little oil on it once you clean it. You will still need to remove the foam one to clean it. My dad had a ITG panel filter in his 1.9 TDI and it was fine.

Not sure you'll see much benefits over your OEM paper filter though, go the full hog and get an induction kit

Thanks for the reply mate. I thought that the panel filter offers little if you don't have a remap but does offer some improvement if you do have a remap?

Cheers Steve, what could I expect from an induction kit?

If your after a panel filter Try a pipercross one which is the same as the VWR one so must be ok. It's lightly oiled foam. I have one on mine and it's been fine though I doubt they make any difference in performance really.

I'm going to get either the pipercross stage 2 induction kit of an ITG maxogen as they're the only ones I think actually work. The carbonio doesn't look a good design IMO.

I have the Carbonio n mine and cannot fault it. Sounds great and looks good and does what it's meant to do. I prefer it to others as its closed off and doesn't make a mess of your engine bay!

Ah right.

As far as panel filters go they're much of a muchness and do very little. I always buy one when I get a new car then wonder why I bothered.
