Newsouth Column Pod installation
« on: 31 December 2011, 19:14 »
happy new year all,

i am currently attempting to install the newsouth boost gauge and pod. illumination is not working but i am guessing i messed up the wiring and will try again tomorrow.

http://www.newsouthperformance.com/Mk5pod.htm

Now the problem i am having is getting the pod itself to fit. It is rubbing badly on the steering wheel, making it very heavy steering and actually popping the pod off. I have pushed it on as fast as i can as per instructions but it is still not quite right. Do i need to sand it down to fit? or even cut off the front lip?

Can anyone help me out in what i need to do to fix this?

thanks in advance

Do they not replace the top part, I know in the mk4 they do.

yep i know the pod sits on top of the steering column. Just doesnt fit at the moment. Also the wiring, currently wired into the light switch and not the dimmer. will this work ?

Trim it as required and use strong double sided tape to hold it.

That is how I wired mine, no issues with it at all.

ok so i got the pod fitted. seems to work ok.

Tried to tap the wiring again but cannot get it to light up so leaving it for now, failed!

i am assuming as the boost gauge came sealed and wired that it is correctly wired up and i am doing it wrong but will try another time.

Sounds like it, most are only 2 wires, black is earth, red is 12v power so find the switched feed on the lighting switch that is all I did.

I have had the NS Column mount in the mk4 and it sits over the top of the OEM surround. I used double sided numberplate tape and made sure it sat as far back as it could to stop the rubbing on the steering wheel.

Down Hill From Here.
