Yes very interesting because they are sh1te and this also happened to 2 dunlop tyres when I hit a pot hole. Sub standard tyres in every way!

Just wondering what people recommend for tyres, I am wondering if its a good chance to change both fronts as I have done 10k on them anyway.

I had Bridgestones on my MK5 and think they were slightly better, but need a set that is fairly durable as my commute to work is traffic and straight roads mainly, but obviously want something I can through round B roads when I am wanting to have some driver fun.

Heard great things about the Conti Sport contact 5 and the Goodyear Asymetric 2's.

Get this months EVO mag - there's a huge tyre test article with 10 tyres, nearly the same size as the Golf GTi (235/40 R18), albeit that the main test car is an S3.

the results don't show the full story though - the bridge tones have the best dry performance for example so i suppose its what you want most. the review is well worth a read.

What do people think about having different tyres front and back.
I was only thinking of getting the front 2 replaced with goodyears due to cost
and being a bit skint after Christmas.

So my choices would be buy one Dunlop to match or 2 goodyears?

not a good idea to replace 1 wheel only. You want to try keep the tyres the same per axle. I sure as hell wouldnt buy another dunlop  :wink:

Once you have fitted one of the other top brand tyres you will soon realise how bad the dunflops really are  :smiley:
