Needs to be out of the same or similar model. Sony should have a accessories page to find out which will work and give you a part number which you can then use else where (ebay/Google Shopping etc) to find it cheaper. Be warned though, some cheap batteries are dangerous and can overheat and explode in rare circumstances, I'd suggest getting a Sony branded battery, not a cheap knock off.
