MAF
« on: 29 December 2011, 14:55 »
I know there have been many threads on this topic but still...

My maf is dead and so I am running right at this moment without it plugged in. The car is running with nemo problems and so my question is, what sources. Does the car miss without it plugged in? Mympg is still creeping up although I can see small loss, other then that I cant see what other reason the maf is needed. Dont get me wrong, I am going to replace it!

My car is limping and cutting too often with it on. Cant risk that happening at busy junction or on a fast road, especially if my son is in the car.

It's running on set parameters at the moment so it won't let you have much boost or throttle without it plugged in

The maf measures the flow rate of the air entering the engine so that the ecu can deliver the right amount of fuel to the engine.

Get it replaced as soon as possible, running with it unplugged for long periods of time may cause damage and the car will be running a limited amount of boost.

Cheers lads for the info. As I said I will be replacing very soon. Cleaned it today to see if helps but I know this may only be a temp fix!

Sods law, avoided the little problems for years, now though I need this, a break switch and thermostat! Oh well....

And whatever happens don't buy a cheap maf, stick with genuine or Bosch.

:afro:

You'll only be replacing it again in a few months if you do
