Invest or Upgrade : Your advice please
« on: 27 December 2011, 17:13 »
Hello chaps,

Am after some advice really about my A3. I've had it for about 7 months, it is a comfortable car and I absolutely love it however, it is a 04 plate 2.0FSI so it doesn't have much pulling power, the interior is all cloth and really basic, the functionality is minimal and tbh my missus T reg golf has more function on it's DIS. So now to make this change (without doing anything about the power as that would cost a fortune) I would probably need to spend in the region of £4-5k plus I would want a full respray so another £2k.

On another hand I can part ex my car against a nice 08 plate 2.0TFSI S-Line with full leather, DSG etc etc and in the color I want (Ibis White) and would probably end up paying about £7k for it but my missus would kille me because we're getting married in August so she wants all the money to go towards the wedding.

Would you stick with the current car and mod it or just go and part ex it??? If you would oart ex do you think it reasonable to wait for the new A3 to be announced so the 8p comes down in price hopefully...

So confused

do nothing. your current car is sh1t and you're not allowed to spend money anyway so modding is out of the question. Sit tight until the wedding is done and then get a new motor

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

It's not that it's smaller sizewise, it just inside for me personally feels cramped, being 6'4 and 19 stone makes me a bit bigger than the average bloke, one of the reasons I got the A3 is because sitting inside feels comfortable...

No brainer for me personally. Go for the upgrade. I don't know what your current A3 is worth but it won't be worth much more once you mod it. At least if you upgrade you won't have 'lost' your money.
