I would defiantly have be up for some fun match ups

AWE Tuning with their full interior daily driver clocked 11.87 with this 1/4 mile package.  I have about 90% of items listed in this kit.  http://www.awe-tuning.com/products/vw-1/mk6-g-j-2010/gti-20t/awe-tuning-mk6-2-0t-quarter-mile-package.html I got a different exhaust and a different intake.
If you haven't seen the future you haven't driven fast enough!!!!

I will get smoked if you hit anything near that, Im hoping for a 12.9-13.4 would love to hit 12.0second something.
Santa pod is the place to do it, With the sticky surface which helps frontwheel drive cars. Be fun

Just a remap and intake, DSG will be remapped by then also hopefully
http://www.fastestlaps.com/cars/vw_golf_r.html  Says 13.5 on 1/4 mile standard. So .5 from the above should be do-able

Yup, with a good map you should see low 13s easily. 13.5 for a standard car though is a bit optimistic though (unless the car has DSG) from my experience. Certainly at Crail the surface could be adding a few tenths but generally most S3s (not seen an R there yet) have run 13.7-14.0 quarter miles. The guys getting under the 14's mark have all been manuals with the drivers launching the absolute life out of the car.

I can't understand why people want to do that to their cars?

I am the same. This was actually one of the factors that influenced me to go for the DSG with the GTI - it meant the car could be launched hard without any significantly increased detriment to mechanical components. Don't get me wrong, I understand that there will still be mechanical wear, but I am more comfortable taking my DSG for some hard launches than I would be with a manual.

Some of those 1/4 mile tracks in the USA are downhill after the 1st 100 yards and so times can be over half a second faster over the 1/4 mile.

York Raceway is a good halfway meet for you PenguinGTI. A solid track, but you have to wear a helmet there to run.

http://www.yorkraceway.org.uk/

Did a 12.9 there before I had the nitrous. They also do a 0-60mph time instead of the 60ft time on certain days if you use the right hand lane.

KrazyZ - on a K04 TSI conversion expect anything between 12.7 to 13 seconds at around 112-116mph terminals. You may get a little lower if you have semi-slicks. I tend to ignore the USA times as they never fully disclose all settings on their cars and as mentioned have some downhill raceways.

York looks decent but I think if I was coming down I'd have to finally pay the Pod a visit.

I may yet still be tempted. It would just be either a very early morning drive or an overnight perhaps.

Completely right about the dragstrip lottery though.

they never fully disclose all settings on their cars

Case in point the AWE Mk6 "daily driver" which has been fully stripped of passenger seats and spare wheel kit... try see how useful that is for daily use
